Train up a child in the way
he should go, and when he
is old he will not turn from it.

Bellevue University's Center for American Vision and Values will be offering its inaugural High School Academy event, “America’s Founding Principles.” This will be a free four-hour seminar that will include a complimentary lunch and lively entertainment during breaks (a magician, DJ, and live music). The program is for high school students and their parents (if they choose to come).

The Center for American Vision and Values examines the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, and traditional American values and beliefs. The goal of their High School Academy is to educate local and regional high school students, as well as home schoolers, on the core principles, beliefs, and documents of America's founding.

Congressman Lee Terry, who will appear as a guest lecturer, reminds us that this is “a pivotal moment for our nation…” Given the events of the past year, the steady erosion of individual rights, and the growing number of deliberate misinterpretations of our Constitution, it is more important than ever for our children to be well-informed.

The Center for American Visions and Values has made a special outreach to homeschool students. It’s my hope that homeschoolers will show up in full force to honor this effort. I also believe that homeschool students and parents will be at the roots of any movement that returns our country to its original principles. This will only be possible if our children know what those principles are and have a chance to hear them defended articulately and with enthusiastically.

The event will be held at the Hitchcock Humanities Center on the Bellevue University main campus on Saturday November 14th from 10am to 2pm. For more details and to register, see americanvisionandvalues.org
