Train up a child in the way
he should go, and when he
is old he will not turn from it.

Actually, we are batting .312, as in 312 students enrolled. I was amazed last year when our final enrollment reached 275, which was a record number for us then. So maybe we’re batting a thousand. Or bowling three hundred. Either way we don’t want to end up in a third and long and leading with our chin, despite the fact that we sometimes drop the ball. We’re just glad to have y’all in our corner as we head down the homestretch

Yikes! Once you start these dang sports metaphors they just take over.

Let me put it this way: it’s only ten days from our start and we are putting the whole nine yards in apple-pie order before the pitter-patter of little feet are upon us again. It all boils down to this: sign up quick so you don’t end up always a bridesmaid. I don’t think I’m airing any dirty laundry when I tell you that thirteen of our classes are already full. But that still leaves Young Explorers, Simply Music, Cooking, Job Quest, Watercolor, General Art (10-18), P.E., Hands On Science (6-10), Explore This art, Fun with Spanish, Embroidery, Spanish, Zumba, ACT Prep, American Government, Personal Finance, Wildlife Discovery, Mock Trial, Simply Music, Ballroom Dance, Sign Language, Advanced Tae Kwon Do, and American Vision and Values.

(Rats. Out of the frying pan…)

You can find a complete list of available classes and all our registrations materials at www.omahahomeschool.com.

Here’s a couple to think about:

JOB QUEST: THE ESSENTIAL JOB SEEKING SKILLS (Suggested ages 14-Adult)
Are you looking for your first job or returning to the workforce? This is the class for you! We will cover the basics of finding employment opportunities, resume creation, application completion, and interviewing. During the course, each student will complete at least one job application, develop a resume, and participate in at least one mock or real job interview. Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn the tools necessary to navigate the current job market successfully. Students must have access to a computer with internet access and a word processing program and printer or typewriter.

Time: 2pm  Cost: $80  Class fee: $5

WATERCOLOR (Suggested ages 9-Adult):

And we are very happy to welcome back working Ukrainian artist Inna Kulagina, who you may have seen featured in the World Herald last spring. Unlike other types of paint, watercolor has a mind of its own: unpredictable but exciting and beautiful. This class lets you explore this medium by painting a landscape and still life. To do this, students will learn the color wheel, color values, transparent and opaque paint, watercolor techniques such as washes, wet-into-wet, wet-on-dry, dry-on-dry, over-painting, and, oh yes, have FUN. This is one of a series of classes offered in partnership with Arts For All, a dynamic non-profit education program, whose goal is to provide quality classes that are affordable to all.
