Providential History Festival at Strategic Air and Space Museum, September 17, 18 Discounted registrations until Labor Day! Diana Waring speaking and giving workshops! Is this event suitable for wiggly kids? The answer is “Yes.” We have done everything we can to make this event a family-friendly event from the youngest to the oldest. 1. There will be coloring and activity tables at the rear of the auditorium where parents can still hear what is happening and children can color. This seemed to help a lot last year. 2. There will be hands-on activities for the children at various stations in the “restoration room” (where the PHF events will take place). 3. There are plenty of things to see in the PHF room (including aircraft being restored) and plenty of room to walk a child while listening to the presentations. 4. If it is still too difficult, there are fun hands-on activities in the museum itself, though of course you won’t be able to hear anything in the Providential History Festival while in the museum exhibits. But there are places to escape to, including play areas. 5. To see the kinds of activities appropriate for a child outside of the “restoration room” (where all the PHF events will take place), go to: http://www.sasmuseum.com/exhibits/kids-space/ 6. Even adults like to get up and wander around, and there will be plenty of vendors who would love to talk to you, and they will have helpful resources on their tables that you will enjoy browsing. Be sure to browse the sponsor tables since their sponsorships are what enable PHF to offer family friendly prices. Of course, there will also be the Table Displays of contestants. This is a festival, not a typical conference, and no one has to be glued to their seats. Friday will have the longer speaking sessions with Diana Waring, a very lively speaker, from 3:30-4:30pm and then again from 7:00-8:15pm, as well as Mo Leverett’s dinner concert from 5:30-6:30pm. These would probably be the hardest sessions to sit through, but hopefully manageable with the availability of moving around in the rear. Saturday will have shorter, faster sessions with more audience interaction, though the day is longer. All in all, we have organized this event to be as family-friendly, fun and educational as possible. We welcome large families!
