Bellevue University’s Second High School Academy: Religion and America’s Founding
Dear Homeschool Family,
“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity,
religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that
man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these
great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of
men and citizens. . . . And let us with caution indulge the supposition
that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be
conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar
structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national
morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.” - George
Washington, Farewell Address (1796)
With these words in mind, I would like to invite you and your children
to Bellevue University’s Center for American Vision and Values High
School Academy event. Our theme is Religion and America’s Founding.
Our speakers are Congressman Lee Terry and Congressman Steve King.
Lunch is free for all who attend. And we will probably have
entertainment during the lunch break.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 20th, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in
the Hitchcock Humanities Center auditorium (see campus map below) on
the Bellevue University campus (see map below).
As you know if you were in attendance, our first High School Academy
event on America’s Founding Principles was a great success. We filled
the auditorium - and nearly 65% of those in attendance were
homeschoolers. This time I’d like to see an even greater homeschool
turnout.
To register for this event (so we will be sure to have enough lunches
for everyone), please go to the Center for American Vision and Values
homepage at http://www.americanvisionandvalues.org/.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.
I look forward to seeing you at this event.
With best wishes,
