UNO Mavericks Athletics Day

I would like to share an exciting event that the Learning for Life team is doing in conjunction with UNO Athletics! The UNO Athletics program would like to invite teens ages 14-20 to meet and greet the Athletes, Coaches, Trainers, Recruiters and more; of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Programs.

PLEASE CHECK OUT and POST THE ACCOMPANYING FLYER FOR ALL TO SEE!

This is will be a great opportunity for teens to meet college athletes and find out what they had to do to “play college ball”!

Participants will then get to take in the UNO Spring Football Game! Please pass this information on to your resident athletes or coaches as it will be an exciting event for all!

Please let me know if you have any questions! GO MAVS! College Athletics Day Flyer

Sincerely,

Arli Hasbrouck

Scholarship Opportunity Sponsored by Sarpy Republican Women

The Sarpy Republican Women have extended the deadline for entries for their scholarships. If you know of a young woman living in Sarpy County who will graduate this year, this could be cash in her pocket for college! There are two scholarships: one based on a student’s volunteerism and the other is based on an essay written by the applicant. The new deadline is now April 1, 2008.

Young women in their Senior year of High School, attending school or living in Sarpy County, are encouraged to apply for two scholarships offered by the Sarpy Republican Women. A $300 dollar scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who best expresses her ideas in 300 to 500 words on the topic of:

E PLURBUS UNIUM vs. MULTICULTURALISM

A $200 scholarship will also be awarded to a young woman based on her volunteer work with conservative civic causes or Republican political campaigns.

DEADLINE: Postmarked no later than March 15, 2008

Both scholarships will be awarded at our 8th Annual Scholarship Dinner on May 20, 2008.

Any additional questions should be directed to SRW Scholarship Chair, Joyce Schram at 332-3625.
