Nebraska--Governor Dave Heineman Promises to Veto L.B.
1141!
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:
Your calls, emails, and visits to the Capitol have made
a difference! Governor Dave Heineman has promised to veto
L.B. 1141, Senator DiAnna Schimek's homeschool testing bill,
if it passes the Senate.
Speaking at NCHEA's (Nebraska Christian Home Educators
Association)
Legislative Day on Wednesday to hundreds of homeschoolers,
Governor
Heineman said, "If that bill [L.B. 1141] comes across
my desk, then I
will veto it."
This is a major step toward defeating this restrictive
bill. L.B. 1141 is still scheduled for a hearing on February
26, so your senators need to continue hearing your thoughts
on the legislation, but we would like to thank Governor
Heineman for his support.
