NCHEA -- LB1141 -- Legislative Day

Dear NCHEA Members, Support Groups. Contacts and Supporters of Homeschooling:

I am writing to request that you pass on the following information/request about the NCHEA's Legislative Day, Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

NCHEA Legislative Day Coordinator Deb Badeer has arranged appointments with the state senators. We now need families from the following Legislative Districts to register for Legislative Day and meet these senators. Legislative Day is the ideal opportunity to meet your senator and respectfully but firmly present your position on LB 1141. Senators want to meet families from their district. The agenda for NCHEA's Legislative Day and the link to register for Legislative Day can be found by the following link to the NCHEA's web site: http://www.nchea.org/events/legday.cfm.

Legislative Day is an also be an opportunity to expose members of the legislature to the politically active nature of Nebraska homeschoolers if significant numbers of homeschooling families participate in Legislative Day. It will also be an opportunity to learn how the Legislature functions prior to the hearing on LB 1141 on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. The danger to homeschool freedom and parental rights in LB 1141 demands that we be prepared and knowledgeable.

If you signed up for the lunch(es) at Legislative Day, have you mailed your check to Tina Gould, 1655 Harwood Street, Lincoln, NE 68502?

The NCHEA is developing "talking points" to use in your discussion with your senators not only in person on Legislative Day but by mail, telephone, and letters to the media.

You should know that the NCHEA's position is that any change to Nebraska's current home school statutes and rules is unacceptable.
