Rehearsals are MONDAYS, AUGUST 27 THROUGH NOVEMBER 26
(NO REHEARSAL ON LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 3)
at Grace University, Administration Building,
Room 300, 1311 S. 9th Street, Omaha, NE
Two waiting areas are provided for parents and siblings.
Concerts on Nov. 2 (Adv. Band only) and Nov. 26 (everyone)

SPECIAL KICKOFF SCHEDULE
MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 3:15 to 4:05

For new beginners who have not determined which instrument to play:
Demonstration & Experimentation Session on Trumpet, Clarinet, Horn, Trombone, Flute, Violin and Cello.
For new beginners who have determined which instrument to play:
Basic techniques (embouchure, hand position, breathing, bow grip, etc.)

MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 4:10 to 5:40
For students in their 2nd year (or more):
Private lesson for individual technique issues and for band/orchestra placement audition. Lessons first come-first served. Sign up in order when you arrive.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 3:15 to 4:05
For new beginners who have not determined which instrument to play:
Individual interview, aptitude assessment, and ear-sensitivity test. Instructor recommendation (optional).
For new beginners who have determined which instrument to play:
More basic techniques.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 4:10 to 5:40
For students in their 2nd year (or more):
Second private lesson for individual technique issues and for band/orchestra placement audition. Lessons first come-first served. Sign up in order when you arrive.

REGULAR SCHEDULE, BEGINNING SEPT 17
*Slight schedule changes may be made after enrollment is complete

HOMESCHOOL ORCHESTRAS
3:30 to 4:50 Advanced Orchestra*
4:50 to 5:30 Beginning Orchestra*
5:30 to 6:00 Intermediate Orchestra*

MR. RICK BROWN
• 17 years Nebraska Home School Band/Orchestra director
• taught instrumental and choral music in Nebraska and South Dakota schools and colleges
• computer programmer, Offutt AFB
• adjunct percussion instructor at Grace U.

The Orchestra uses Fine Tuning (Advanced), Essential Elements for Strings, (Book 1 for Beginners ,Book 2 for Intermediate)

HOMESCHOOL BANDS
3:15 to 3:55 Beginners Band*
3:55 to 4:35 Intermediate Band*
4:40 to 5:50 Advanced Band*

MR. JEFF JAMES
• 14 years experience teaching young instrumentalists in schools
• 13 years Director of Bands at Grace U.
• 18 years co-director of Mid-America Junior High Music Camps
• Please ask for my resume!

Beginning Band uses Accent on Achievement, Book 1
Intermediate Band uses Standard of Excellence, Bk 2
Advanced Band uses Standard of Excellence, Book 3.
Please bring yours to rehearsal Sept. 17.

FEES
$100 for one child.
$50 for each additional child in the family.
$50 for each additional ensemble.

DRESS CODE FOR REHEARSALS
Please dress modestly (no bare tummies or low necklines) and neatly (no ripped or torn clothing).
