Have you ever thought about putting together all the pieces
of your homeschooling years and compiling them into something
that will last a lifetime? Do you realize that in IA and
NE that the recommended time to keep available your child’s
previous schoolwork, when homeschooling, is 5 years?
“A portfolio is a collection of samples that communicate
your interests and offer evidence of your talents. You can
use your portfolio to show others what you have accomplished,
learned, or produced.
Today, many teachers and schools are including portfolios
in class and graduation requirements. College Admission
officials are requesting portfolios from prospective students.
Employers are paging through portfolios prepared by jobseekers.
A portfolio can tell more about your learning than any other
test or grade report. It can reveal more about your skills
than a resume’.”
In this book, “Creating Portfolios,” the author
begins by describing four types of portfolios. Each of these
four types has a different purpose and a different audience.
This book will guide you through collecting samples, tracking
your progress, and organizing numerous things that describe
your life and education on a whole. From essays, photographs,
artwork, awards, videos, tests and more. It will lead you
through what will end up being something that you will want
to keep for the rest of your life!
Whether or not you are required to keep previous schoolwork
for legal requirements for your state, or whether you want
to just keep a collection from your school years to look
back on, creating a portfolio is an awesome way to tell
your life story! Now you have a resource to show you how
to do just this. Once you’ve created your portfolio,
you won’t be sorry! It will be a cherished book for
a lifetime!!
